Teledyne AES is a business unit of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated.  We have been in our current location since 1966, and were acquired by Teledyne as part of Brown Engineering in 1967.  

 

What about your facility?

Teledyne AES owns a 170,000 sq. ft. facility in Lewisburg, Tennessee with 50,000+ sq. ft. available for expansion.  We have 250 employees in this location.  We are ITAR registered.
 

What do you do?

Teledyne AES builds and tests electronic circuit cards (CCAs) and systems.  We do build-to-print work for other companies and generally do not build our own products.  Most of the products that we build are high-reliability, J-STD-001 Class 3 and Space (NASA and CS) products.  We build everything from SMT CCA, plated thru hole (PTH) CCAs, microelectronic hybrid assemblies to sub-systems that are shipped completely tested for customer installation into aircraft, missiles, or other equipment.  Most work at Teledyne EMS is low-volume/high-mix with volumes from one-time builds of 10 units to monthly shipments of 250 units or more.
 

What testing can you do?

Teledyne AES provides a complete range of testing services for the products that we build.
  • In-circuit test – Both bed-of-nails and flying probe test and development for CCAs
  • Functional test – We build or transition customer tests or develop functional test in-house to customer requirements
  • Environmental test – We can transition or develop tests where environmental testing is required.  We have equipment for thermal cycling, vibration testing, and HASS testing

What about manufacturing equipment?

Teledyne AES is currently placing SMT components from 0201 chips up to large area array packages with ceramic packages.  Our 4 SMT lines have 100% Solder Paste Inspection (SPI), Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) both before and after reflow, inert atmosphere reflow, as well as automated and manual X-ray inspection.  We also have robust processes and equipment for wave soldering, selective soldering, heat sink bonding, box build, and conformal coating.  Capabilities for die attach, flip chip, gold ball bonding, etc are currently in development.

 

What Quality Systems do you have?

Teledyne AES is certified to AS9100 Rev C and Nadcap AC7120 (Electronics).  We have processes in place for AS9102 First Article, Supplier Management, etc.  Teledyne has robust processes for counterfeit part prevention, tin whisker mitigation and RoHS compliance as well as control of our internal processes.

 

Do you have Supply Chain Management?

Teledyne AES provides turnkey services where we purchase material compliant with all customer requirements.  We provide obsolescence management services, long-lead material tracking.  Supplier management processes are compliant with the requirements of AS9100.

 

What about Program Management?

Teledyne AES uses Integrated Program Teams to provide the best customer service possible.  The Program Manager is the focus of the team, with supporting members from Quality, Engineering, Planning, Supply Chain and Operations.  All information flows through the Program Manager to ensure compliance with all contractual requirements.
